You better keep your head up when squaring off with this fierce competitor from Rome or feel the wrath of one of his spikes to your dome. Daniele Lupo is one of the most prolific Italian Beach Volleyball players to ever touch a grain of sand. He credits his father and grandfather for getting him into the sport, noting the joy and passion he witnessed as a youngster when they all played together. When he isn’t blocking spikes and digging balls out of the sand, Lupo spends his time enjoying his passion for Manga and is an avid Rome FC fanatic.

Much of Lupo’s success on the beach came alongside former partner Paolo Nicolai. Together they competed in over 100 FIVB tournaments, amassed an astounding 22 podium finishes, and won three Gold medals during their time as a pair. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, the dynamic duo put themselves on the map by dethroning the defending USA Champions. Their most impressive feat was when they secured a Silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. In honor of their accomplishments, Lupo was asked to be the flag bearer during the closing ceremonies. Despite 11 glorious years together, Lupo and Nicolai recently decided to go their separate ways. Lupo has joined forces with fellow Olympian Alex Ranghieri with the goal of qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Good luck Daniele!
